Aim: Exploration of deep-water caves in Cyprus

Objectives: The project involves the preliminary exploration of some caves in the North and South of Cyprus using technical diving techniques. It seeks to generate information on the caves’ characteristics and the organisms that constitute the marine biodiversity found in these largely unknown habitats. The information generated will provide support to the authorities in the protection and management of marine cavernous environments (designated as being of particular interest by the European Union and it is the obligation of member countries to protect them) and to communicate to the general public the findings under a theme of Conservation and Protection.

Collaborators: CPC Marine Explorations (Nicosia), Deep Penetration Diving (Kerynia).
