Palaeoecology of marine habitats
Aim: Ecological reconstruction of past and ancient marine habitats of Cyprus.
Objectives: Reconstruct the composition and diversity of marine communities, particularly in coralligenous habitats. Study of the past relationships between marine organisms (e.g. epibionts) in the fossil records from different habitats (e.g. coastal, marine). Study of the growth rates of calcifying organisms in the fossil record and comparison with extant populations of the same species.
Study Sites: Karpas Peninsula, Messaoria Plain-Nicosia, Larnaka-Cape Pyla.
