Emel Yegensoy

Emel Yegensoy is a communications and outreach professional with a background in public relations, advertising, marketing, social media management, and environmental communication. She holds a BA in Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing from the University of Nicosia and has several years of hands-on experience in communications, content creation, public engagement, and digital media.

Emel began developing her professional experience alongside her university studies, combining academic knowledge with practical work in communications and social media. A significant part of her professional journey has been within the environmental sector, where she has worked on transforming scientific and conservation-related information into accessible and engaging content for wider audiences. Her experience includes developing social media strategies, creating digital content, supporting awareness campaigns, promoting events and educational activities, and communicating the work and impact of environmental organisations to the public.

Alongside her professional work, Emel has participated in various Erasmus+ projects and international youth initiatives across Europe, both as a participant and in leadership roles. These experiences have strengthened her skills in intercultural communication, teamwork, public engagement, and storytelling while allowing her to connect with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

Emel is currently the Communications and Outreach Officer at Enalia Physis Environmental Research Centre, where she supports the organisation’s communication, outreach, and public engagement activities. Her work focuses on increasing the visibility and accessibility of Enalia Physis’ research and conservation efforts through social media, digital content, campaigns, events, and other communication activities. She contributes to strengthening the organisation’s public presence and ensuring clear and consistent communication across its different platforms and activities.

With a strong interest in both nature and communication, Emel is particularly passionate about using creativity and storytelling to make environmental topics more approachable and engaging. She believes that effective communication can help bridge the gap between scientific work and the wider community, encouraging people not only to understand environmental challenges but also to feel connected to the natural world and the efforts being made to protect it.
