Project Title: Monk Seal Protection in the Eastern Mediterranean

Aim: This project aims to improve the knowledge of the population of the Mediterranean monk seal at the eastern Mediterranean, monitoring their populations, reduce threats and raise public awareness. 

Goals: 

  • Ensure legal, efficient and participatory protection and management of the species and its habitat
  • Monitor the population
  • Reduce threats
  • Capacity Building and Training: Knowledge transfer between partners and various awareness activities on monk seal status, negative impacts and solutions.
  • Coordinate project activities with other actors working in the same areas and/or types of actions

Duration:  April 2021 – March 2023

Location: Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon, Israel, Spain
