Hold the Line Cyprus: Building Resilience and Fair Access for the Next Generation of Cypriot Fisheries

Aim: To strengthen the resilience, sustainability, and fair access of Cyprus’s small-scale fisheries while promoting the full implementation of the existing EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The project seeks to ensure that fisheries governance remains effective, transparent, and grounded in the realities of Cypriot fishers, while contributing to the wider European dialogue on the future of fisheries management.

Objectives:
-Promote the effective implementation of the existing Common Fisheries Policy rather than reopening it in ways that could weaken environmental safeguards.
-Mobilise fishers, policymakers, scientists, NGOs, and other stakeholders through consultations and dialogue.
-Develop policy recommendations and a Joint Call to Action for improving fisheries governance in Cyprus.
-Initiate the development of a National Plan of Action for Small-Scale Fisheries (NPOA-SSF) in Cyprus.
-Improve transparency, stakeholder participation, resilience, and fair access to fisheries resources for current and future generations of fishers.

Funded By: The project is supported through the “Hold the Line on CFP” campaign, coordinated by Coalition Clean Baltic via its re-granting programme
