Jakovos Demetriou
Jakovos holds a BSc in Biology, MSc in “Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation”,
and is currently a PhD candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of
Athens in Greece (NKUA). He has received a scholarships from the State
Scholarship Foundation of Cyprus (IKYK) for both his undergraduate and
postgraduate studies. Jakovos has been a part of Enalia Physis since 2021, working
on numerous projects in Cyprus and abroad.
His main research interests revolve around entomology, taxonomy, ecology,
conservation, biogeography and biological invasions, with special interest in ants!
Project manager:
1) DNA barcoding and impact assessment of non-native insects on Cyprus
2) Biodiversity and spatiotemporal patterns of ants in the Akrotiri Peninsula
