Molecular & cell biologist / Member of the Board of Directors
Antonis Ververis
Dr. Antonis Ververis is a molecular and cell biologist and Associate Scientist at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics (CING), Nicosia, since 2020.
He obtained his B.Sc. in Biology and M.Sc. in Applied Genetics and Biotechnology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Cyprus. His doctoral research identified and functionally characterized the katanin-like protein KATNAL2, demonstrating its key role in cell cycle regulation and ciliogenesis.
Dr. Ververis joined CING as a postdoctoral fellow in the Neurogenetics Department and as Project Manager of the ERA-Chair BIORISE grant, contributing to the establishment of a Bioinformatics Group to strengthen institutional bioinformatics infrastructure and research capacity.
His current work focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases, the functional characterization of disease-associated proteins, and the neuroprotective potential of medicinal plant-derived compounds, particularly in the context of Alzheimer’s disease.
