Communications & Outreach Officer (Part-Time)

(Environmental NGO / Research Organisation – Cyprus-based)

Position Overview

We are looking for a creative, organised and proactive Communications & Outreach Officer to help communicate the work and impact of Enalia Physis Environmental Research Centre.

This role combines strategic communication, content creation, public engagement and event coordination to strengthen the organisation’s visibility and relationships with communities, partners, donors and the wider public.

Working closely with the Director and project teams, the successful candidate will help translate scientific research and conservation work into engaging stories that inspire action and strengthen public awareness.

As part of an environmental NGO, we are looking for someone who genuinely believes in protecting nature and enjoys communicating meaningful work in ways that people can understand and connect with.

Key Responsibilities

1. Communications & Digital Presence

  • Develop and implement the organisation’s communication strategy.
  • Manage the organisation’s social media channels.
  • Create engaging content including graphics, short videos and campaigns.
  • Write website articles, news updates and project stories.
  • Coordinate the production of newsletters.
  • Monitor communications performance and recommend improvements.

2. Media & Public Relations 

  • Prepare press releases and media material.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media partners.
  • Coordinate interviews and media opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent organisational messaging across communication channels.

3. Community Engagement & Events

  • Organise environmental awareness events, workshops and public activities.
  • Support educational campaigns and outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate communication with participants, partners and stakeholders.
  • Assist with photography, storytelling and event coverage.

4. Project Communication Support

  • Develop communication plans for EU-funded and national projects.
  • Prepare dissemination material required by project deliverables.
  • Support proposal writing by contributing communication sections.
  • Ensure donor visibility requirements are met.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Environmental Communication or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Greek.
  • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing social media professionally.
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar design software.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience within an NGO or environmental organisation.
  • Experience with EU-funded communication activities.
  • Basic photography and video editing skills.
  • Experience organising events or public engagement activities.
  • Knowledge of email marketing platforms.
  • Basic website editing experience (WordPress preferred).

Position Details

Type: Part-time (approximately 20 hours/week) with the potential to grow as the organisation expands.

Office: Minimum 3 days per week in Xylotymbou, Larnaca, with occasional hybrid work.

Salary: €600–€800 gross/month (depending on experience).

Starting date: September 2026.
