Coralligenous Habitats

Aim: Assessment of the deep and shallow water coralligenous habitats.

Objectives: Built a baseline data platform of the status, distribution and species composition of the coralligenous habitats around Cyprus. Monitoring of the responses of the coralligenous to environmental changes by targeting specific groups of organisms (e.g. corals and bryozoans). Study of the epibionts in shallow and deep-water corals. See also: Shallow water corals of Cyprus (poster).

Study Sites: Shallow and deep waters around Cyprus, particularly Akamas, Akrotiri and Karpas Peninsulas, Cape Greco to Cape Pyla areas, Protaras, Kerynia.
