MedONwheels: protecting the Mediterranean Sea through education, awareness and engagement

Vision: The project’s vision is to instill in the new generation a sense of responsibility for conserving the marine environment, by creating knowledgeable, passionate, and responsible islanders who are well-informed and can advocate on behalf of the natural world.

Goal: This project will plant the seed of knowledge regarding the environment of the Mediterranean Sea, its sustainability, nature’s processes, threats and challenges, the impacts of human activities, climate change, and many more. The project’s desired results are to transfer knowledge, increase awareness, promote engagement, and inspire Cypriots of all ages to protect and conserve the Mediterranean marine environment.

How: Through blended educational techniques, innovative and creative workshops, and transformative pathways. A unique Education Centre on Wheels (minivan), equipped with educational material, interactive and sensory-friendly educational games, virtual reality and 360 videos, stereoscopes, and 3D mockups, travels the island to enhance marine literacy.

Objectives: To improve environmental literacy, promote sustainable practices, enable target groups to engage in the protection and conservation of the marine environment in Cyprus, and incentivize target groups.
