Katerina Athanasiou

 

Katerina obtained a BSc in Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Science
from the Cyprus University of Technology in 2022 and she is now a MSc student
at National School of Public Health at University of West Attica in Athens, Greece.
From 2021-2023 in parallel to her studies she has been working on a voluntary basis
at the Vector Ecology and Applied Entomology Laboratory, Joint Services Health Unit. Her main research interests are vector ecology and vector borne diseases and her postgraduate studies focus on this field. Her BSc project compared different mosquito trapping methods within different habitats of the Akrotiri Peninsula.
Since April 2023 Katerina is a Darwin Plus Fellow working on: Capacity building for
the surveillance of native and non-native ticks and tick-borne diseases at the
Sovereign Base Areas (Tick Alert).
